Rural healthcare designed around the realities of rural life

Rural Child Health is an Australian organisation working to improve access to healthcare and support for rural, regional and remote families.

Founded by Child and Family Health Nurse Rebecca Bradshaw, Rural Child Health works across families, workplaces and communities to provide practical, evidence informed healthcare, education and early intervention from birth through adolescence.

Our approach improves health literacy, supports earlier help seeking and gives families greater confidence to understand their health, navigate services and make informed decisions for themselves and their children.

When families are supported, communities and workplaces thrive.

The reality of rural motherhood

Too many rural mothers are enduring motherhood, rather than enjoying it.

They’re navigating sleep deprivation, feeding challenges, big emotions and the enormous identity shift that can come with becoming a mother. At the same time, they may be managing the realities of rural life: natural disasters, geographical isolation, agricultural businesses, partners working away or on FIFO rosters, volunteering on local committees and being the person who keeps showing up for everyone else.

And often, they’re doing it without the support they need.

Accessing the right healthcare and parenting support can mean long wait times, limited local services or travelling hundreds of kilometres for an appointment.

Any one of these challenges may feel manageable on its own. But when several happen at once, they compound. The mental load grows, accessing support becomes harder and families can find themselves simply trying to keep everything going.

The impact doesn’t stop with one mother. It flows through families, workplaces and rural communities.

Practical support. Greater confidence. Stronger families.

Rural Child Health provides practical, evidence-informed and easy-to-understand support that helps families feel more confident, capable and connected.

We help you:

  • feel confident in your parenting decisions
  • better understand your child’s development, behaviour and needs
  • improve your family’s health literacy and know when to seek further support
  • navigate health and support services with greater confidence
  • feel calmer, more supported and less alone
  • strengthen connection within your family

Parenting was never meant to be done in isolation.

Why Rural Child Health?

Rural families deserve high quality healthcare and parenting support, regardless of where they live.

At Rural Child Health, we understand the realities of raising a family in rural and regional Australia. We also know that every child, parent and family is different, which is why our care is never one size fits all.

You receive personalised, judgement free support grounded in clinical expertise, evidence and a genuine understanding of rural family life.

We take the time to listen, understand what is happening for your child and your family, and help you make sense of the information around you. You will leave with practical strategies, a clearer understanding of what to do next and greater confidence in your own parenting decisions.

Our role is not to tell you how to parent. It is to give you the knowledge, support and reassurance you need to trust yourself, understand your child and make informed decisions for your family.
